Perry’s has been making award winning craft ciders since 1920 when William Churchill acquired the family farm and started making cider as a side line to his blacksmiths business. The company was later taken over by Henry and Bert Perry his nephews who pushed the company forward and continued to experiment with craft ciders.
Much of the techniques and our current ethos came from these experimentations. In fact we still ferment our ciders in exactly the same way and each year will continue to use the two hydraulic presses installed by them in the 50’s. These presses have squeezed over 7 million pints of cider each.

The Purbeck Cider Company was born in 2006 when Joe returned to the family farm after travelling around New Zealand with a brilliant idea to make a magnificent farm pressed cider and apple juice whilst continuing to work the land farming his flock of sheep.
Each pressing season the pile of Dabinett apple pulp mysteriously attracts the ducks from a nearby pond. So we gave our feathered friend a distinguished dress sense to match a distinguished sense of taste. As a result the full bodied juice produced from Dabinett apples creates a well-balanced single variety cider with an unmistakable depth of flavour.

Sandford Orchards is a traditional farm business, pressing juices and ciders for an ever growing market. Their methods are simple and so is their ethos: ‘we only bottle the best’. They are a family business full of passion for their products and believe that Devon ciders and juices are the best in the world – so we want you to taste them!
They grow lots of fruit including, obviously, many varieties of cider apple, but they also have a further 20 acres of dessert fruit including pears, plums and cherries. They grow fruit on their own land and rented land, and are most proud of the orchards which they have helped to save from extinction. They also strongly support bio-diversity in their orchards because they are a permanent habitat and, as they are naturally full of trees, they support a huge number of micro-flora, fungi, mosses lichens, insects and therefore song birds, small mammals and thus predators such as badgers, foxes, owls and other large birds of prey. Most of their orchards are traditional large trees and so have an extremely important role in the winter months on stock farms. The trees provide natural shelter and because orchards have traditionally surrounded the farmhouse it means that they are the ideal place to put young stock such as calves or ewes with lambs.
Not every cloudy cider has to be a challenge, Devon Mist is medium sweet and a gentle joy. Rich and mellow autumnal fruit with a satisfying finish.
